This is my doppelganger.

I write about stuff, mostly about stuff in Egypt.

I also worked as a journalist at Egypt Independent until me and my colleagues were kicked out by The Man.

A bunch of us went on to form our own, truly independent, news website. And then I left that and currently spend most of my time at home doing battle with my cats.

    Hi there,

Nice blog. Only one tip –> the front page takes ages to load. Too much content on the first page. CPU spikes to 99% because of the flash plugins. I bet google doesn;t like it as well. (from a seo perspective.

    Kind Regards,

    Mister Wonkish

This is actually really good stuff. If you ever feel to throw a satiric book manuscript together with some of your work, give me a shot. Either way, keep it up.

beautiful writing as always. Just a quick feedback on the technical side. blogs takes very long to load and I find the fact that there is no search option (at least I dont see it) a disadvantage of wordpress.

    good luck!

In a pure Mubarak style: “I block you …”. Of course ! I’m not famous, I’m not rich (3000EGP for a phone !?) and I’m not even neither Egyptian nor American. So you blocked me. What a democratic attitude super-star and super-rich miss Carr !

God bless you and your 3000EGP’s Cha-cha-Samsung …

    Dear Ms. Carr,

Hello, it is a pleasure to be able to contact you via email and nice to meet you. I am Rebekka Seleman and I’m currently a student at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, CO. I am doing research on modern culture and customs of present day Egyptians. In order to fulfil my research, I wanted to branch out to important members of up to date news in Egypt. I saw that you are the Owner of the Inanities website and wanted to contact you for some help. Any help would be appreciated very much and thanked.

A couple questions I came upon in my research were of course the basics such as, “What is it like?”, ” Do they have new customs or use ancient customs?”, or How does there government compare from ancient to modern?”. I found some things on the three questions, but I feel it would be best to hear it from someone who knows more about Egypt and has perhaps lived there. I tried commenting on a few blogs seeking help and there has been no takers so far. Also, with the concerning government and clashes currently happening in Egypt, I wanted to know more about that as well. I wanted to know what triggered these events and why people are bursting into violence. The main question I have for you is: “What is it like in Egypt, including there culture and customs?”. I would very much appreciate some help from a person who has been there recently and knows what is currently going on. I hope that you see this email as an opportunity to knowledge a fellow student curious in the culture that you know much about.

    Thank you very much,
    Rebekka Seleman
